About the furniture- Most of it is reused and amazing finds from fairs and drift stores. I love that the apartment is old and has this life to it- even the walls are crooked and the pedantic me just loves it.
I'll start with a vintage fair from where i found two amaxing pieces- and old german typewriter and a soviet time radio. I wasn't planning on buying neither of them because i will barely have room for myself when the apartment is ready, but you'll see why I had to buy them when you see the pictures.
With the next item i have a story that describes me the best. Went to pick up my sister tapestry but it wasn't ready yet, so the guy said it will take 15 minutes- fine, i might as well go to a drift store and see what's there. While walking around i spotted a couch- just the style i like but a bit scruffy- no problem, i won't get it anyways because it's not the right time yet- i thought. Checked the price and the next thing i rememeber was me and the sales person pushing it into my little car. Me- my ass up in the air pulling from inside the car, her pushing it and people staring. Needless to say- i bought the damn armchair and went back to work.
Last but not least- my darling couch. Me and my best friend Eeva went to a few vintage shops and just strolled around when i glanced a couch. It was around 70€. I thought it's a bit too much work for that money and moved on. Passing the registry i saw a sign that said: 50% off all furniture. I turned around and headed straight towards the couch. Sat in it for a bit and headed to the salesperson to get a measuring tape to measure the couch and my car. It wouldn't have fitted. But i went and bought the damn thing anyways.
For now i have stripped the old fabric and found how much damage have they done with their bad craftmanship while re-polstering it. But what i found underneath was a fantastic first republic time baby green couch which i will restore with a mustard fabric :)
Last but not least, a bit about the building process. At the moment as i mentioned i am working on the ceiling and installing laths. Oh that is a thing that is so tricky. I need to get the laths to fit together and because the walls are not straight, the long wood strips will nt fit properly and have to be made shorter and filled with silicone as well. It is all fun and games, but i tend to exit that game all covered in glue and silicone.
Hey, looks like real, right?
And a few words on the lights and the light switches. I do love them and they are actually so simple. All the details just come together in the color and the robustic feel- it's just great.
The lights- i started with measuring the fabric wires and attaching them to the ceiling with temorary attachements- and yes, the ceiling was filled with holes because i could not make up my mind on where exactly to put them. A few hours and a paintbucket of white paint later i had managed to get the lights up.
Til then,
your tiny badass.
